Goods for Good is a local charity based in Borehamwood. Founded in 2014, it has in just over three years delivered over £12 million worth of goods to 12 countries, reaching over 1.2 million people, including refugees and typhoon survivors.
Councillor Gary Silver said: “Goods for Good is a local charity, based in Borehamwood with a national and international reach. The work they do reaches millions of people across the world in desperate need.”
The charity delivers overstocked goods donated by British industry and second-hand goods from the local community to refugees and vulnerable communities around the world, preventing these goods from being incinerated or being sent to landfill.
Goods for Good are partnered with big named high street companies such as Nike, Next, Comfy Quilts and Harrods. In the last year, they have assisted countries including Moldova, Ukraine, Northern Iraq and South Sudan, as well as supporting local charities such as Homeless Action in Barnet, providing them with warm clothing.
Councillor Silver said, “I feel privileged to be asked to be Goods for Good’s first Ambassador and would encourage local organisations within Borehamwood and Hertsmere to assist with donations, and if they can, also volunteer their time.”
