A new sports club for children with disabilities is set to open later this. The Inclusive Sports Club will begin with a six week pilot and will run every Saturday from 22 September at Maxwell Park Community Centre in Borehamwood.
A variety of activities will be on offer, including archery, golf, dance, basketball, football, boccia, curling, which will all be adapted for the needs of the individuals within the group.
The sessions are for young people aged seven to 18 and are open to all abilities and will take place between 10am and 11am each Saturday,
Conservative Councillor Caroline Clapper, said: ““I welcome the start of this new club and the positive impact it will make on the lives of children in Hertsmere.”
Enabling children with disabilities to participate in sporting activities is so important for their health and wellbeing, as well as providing them with the opportunity to make new friends and improve their communication skills, which helps to prevent them from becoming isolated.
A representative from the Herts Disability Sports Foundation will be at every session, with additional coaches from the Foundation, Watford Football Club and the Golf Trust leading activities.
