Local Democracy Week takes place every year and aims to raise awareness about local authorities. It encourages residents to take part in local democracy and as part of it events are held throughout the week to celebrate and inform residents about the work that local authorities do.
As part of this year’s Local Democracy Week, Hertsmere Conservative Councillor for Aldenham West, Caroline Clapper spoke to all the students at HJPS about the Council and what it does for them locally. She also discussed why they vote and how they vote
Councillor Clapper said:” I feel it’s really important that we teach the next generation about politics. “
“Local Democracy week gives Councillors a fantastic opportunity to work with schools and discuss with children what Politics means to them.”
